The first memory of when I discovered my passion for art were my Friday nights at the bowling alley. My parents played in a league and I was their designated scorekeeper. The thick pencil lead was so soft - similar to an artist's ebony pencil - and where I spent many Fridays filling in the squares perfectly.
As my love for art expanded beyond a scorecard, I was fortunate to have mentors throughout my school years to encourage me to draw and paint. One teacher even hired me as their assistant to help draw and paint borders for his client's kitchens.
As I headed to college studying graphic design I ended up joining a band. Did I mention I play the drums too? We even had a record deal and went on tour.
The band eventually broke up, and I decided to return to school to get my master's in education. My first job after graduating was teaching high school art and what I did for almost 40 years. Little did I know I would be able to share my passion with my students and continuing to create artwork alongside them. What better way to lead then by example?
Upon retiring from teaching I continue to create artwork regularly. I have expanded my inspiration to winter treks to warmer locations and world travels.
Art has always been a source of joy and celebration of the world around me. I'm excited to share my work with you and hope it brings you the same happiness.
